Milan


   We left the hotel in Venice this morning at 7.30 to make our way to Milan which is a five hour drive.
   Verona is our first stop.

   The most famous landmark in Milan Italy is undoubtedly the city's gorgeous gothic cathedral called the "Duomo di Milano". Located next to Galleria Vittorio Emanuella ll Milan's famous shopping complex, the 14th century Duomo cathedral will impress any visitor to Milan. Visitors will see some 135 spires mounted on the cathedral rooftop and many beautiful sculptures embedded into its facade.

 the Madonnina, a copper statue of the virgin Mary covered with 3900 pieces of gold leaf. It was cast in 1774 by goldsmith Giuseppe Bini and sculptor Giuseppe Perego. 


   La Scala is a world-renowned opera house in Milan, Italy. The theatre was inaugurated on 3 August 1778 and was originally known as the New Royal-Ducal Theatre alla Scala. The premiere performance was Antonio Salieri's Europa

   Sforza Castle is a castle in Milan. It was built in the 15th century on the remains of a 14th-century fortification. Later renovated and enlarged, in the 16th and 17th centuries it was one of the largest citadels in Europe.

   The Rondanini Pietà is a marble sculpture that Michaelangelo worked on from the 1550s until the last days of his life, in 1564. It is housed in the Sforza castle in Milan.This final sculpture revisited the theme of the Virgin Mary mourning over the body of the dead Christ, which he had first explored in his Pieta of 1499.
